Banned Books & Brunch with Fauxnique

Step into a world where literature defies boundaries and brunch tantalizes the taste buds. Welcome to “Banned Books and Brunch featuring Fauxnique,” an event that celebrates the freedom of expression with a dash of flair.

A morning of literary rebellion that includes “Leaves of Grass” by Walt Whitman, Fauxnique, a captivating Drag Queen (and so much more), gives life to passages from banned poems and books. Highlighted with Brunch that includes bottomless mimosas and a sneak peek of Dirty Habit’s upcoming new menu items such as peach and mozzarella caprese and a fig & brie flatbread.

As you sip your mimosa and bask in the ambiance of acceptance and celebration, you’ll be reminded of the importance of freedom of speech and the beauty of diversity. “Banned Books and Brunch with Fauxnique” isn’t just an event; it’s a statement—a reminder that literature knows no bounds and that every voice deserves to be heard.

Fauxnique is the alter-ego of artist/choreographer/writer Monique Jenkinson whose work dwells at the intersection of contemporary dance and cabaret and considers the performance of femininity as a powerful, vulnerable and subversive act. Since making herstory as the first cis-woman crowned as a pageant-winning drag queen, she has performed her works in varied contexts, nationally and internationally. Her memoir Faux Queen: A Life in Drag (Amble Press) is out now & available where books are sold.
